Jan is a long-time member of the Lynnhurst neighborhood, having lived on the 4900 block of Emerson with her husband, Phillip, for over 35 years. The way Jan sees it, Lynnhurst’s charm has been maintained. Businesses change. New families have moved in and grown. Some have moved on. New families have moved in. Yet Lynnhurst’s sense of community has remained the same.
Through the years, Jan has thrown herself into many neighborhood volunteer opportunities. Of particular note, she served as Treasurer of the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association for one year before taking on the role as President for another three. While President, Jan established the Lynnhurst Summer Festival, which will be celebrating its 24th year this August.
Jan is an active member of the Lynnhurst Environmental Committee, where she leads the annual Buckthorn Bust each October. Additionally, she manages her block’s directory and their Summer End Party. As if all this weren’t enough, Jan has been volunteering for Secondhand Harvest for the past 15 years, supporting low income seniors. We are grateful to have Jan as our neighbor and avid supporter. So, if you happen to be on Emerson and see her walking her Miniature Goldendoodle Auggie (named after her great-grandfather), stop, say hello, and say thanks!
